Capturing arts for the screen

May 5, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

This free workshop is aimed at those working in the arts who are interested in reaching wider audiences by capturing performances and exhibitions for online, mobile or broadcast distribution

Sessions will explore the processes involved, take a look at the main considerations and examine the opportunities and challenges that arts organisations face when capturing performances and exhibitions. Delegates will have an opportunity to listen to experts including award-winning Director Ross McGibbon, Helen Spencer, Commissioning Executive from The Space and Jojo Tyhurst, Digital Communications Producer at Artichoke.

We will also consider new platforms and technologies, from the point of view of artists, organisations, audiences, directors and producers, encompassing different disciplines from live streaming and performance capture, to making and sharing content on tablets and phones.

Hosted by The Space in partnership with the BBC Academy and supported by Arts Council England, the day will include sessions on the following:

  • Capture in Performing Arts
  • Capture in Museums and Galleries
  • Capturing work on smartphones

We are delighted to be joined by internationally renowned choreographer Wayne McGregor who will join us to showcase clips from his latest project, Atomos, and to talk about marrying dance with film and visual art.
