Rambert's Artistic Director, Mark Baldwin, choreographed a cast of over 50 dancers from Rambert and the Rambert School, and they were joined on stage by 70 musicians for a performance on a really grand scale.
Rambert's largest work to date, The Creation marries dance to Haydn's masterpiece, showing off one of the greatest classical composers at the peak of his powers.
Performed at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in November 2016 to sold-out houses, the Rambert Orchestra and BBC Singers were conducted by Paul Hoskins in a series of performances which formed a major part of the company’s 90th anniversary season.
The production can now be seen in full and on demand via BBC Arts Online.
Speaking about the importance of audiences being able to see the show, Mark Baldwin, Rambert's Artistic Director said:
‘Touring is at the heart of what we do and it is incredibly important to us that our work reaches the widest audience possible. We are thrilled that The Space has commissioned a film of The Creation as it will enable us to extend the life of this monumental work and ensure that it can be seen by audiences nationally and internationally.’
