Unspoken Spoken, is a captivating new film from Canduco, performed by disabled and non-disabled dancers and directed and choreographed by Fin Walker.
Featuring Jess Dowdeswell, a 14-year old who dances without her wheelchair, and Jemima Hoadley, who narrates the story through British Sign Language, voice and movement, Unspoken Spoken exposes the potential that exists when we dare to challenge the rules.
Candoco Dance Company produces excellent and profound experiences for audiences and participants that excite, challenge and broaden perceptions of art and ability, and place people and collaboration at the heart of our work.
Within the film, we encounter five characters, each with his or her own rules to question, to surrender to, to fight against. Some younger, some older, they ask us to look deeper, to explore our own boundaries. What changes if we face up to what is holding us back?
There are three versions of the film – one full length or two shorter segments, all of which can be seen on Candoco's website.
You can also go behind the scenes with dancer Dan Daw.
