This digital animation allowed anyone to own a Jeremy Deller artwork - for free.
Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller created a new digital animation and collaborated with The Space to make it available free online, allowing anyone to be an art collector.
The new artwork, We Sit Starving Amidst Our Gold, is based on painting by Stuart Hughes and was originally made for the British Pavilion of the Venice Biennale 2013, where Deller was chosen to represent England with the exhibition English Magic.
The Space and Own Art, supported by Sedition, commissioned a new digital version of the piece to celebrate Own Art’s 10th anniversary. As part of the project, we gave 10,000 people a chance to own a piece of We Sit Starving Amidst Our Gold, just by signing up to our newsletter.
