Houseplants

These are the stories of three women and their plants told through photography and songs in the novel form of three minimal, online operas. The women at the heart of this project embody our relationships with the plants we care for and why we grow houseplants, and what we get out of it.

We have instinctive drive to nurture living things and to Robyn Harris, a nurse in Chatham, this is both a compulsion and a comfort. For Yvonne Fuchs in Whitstable, plants remind her of her lost husband and have acted as a companion for her. Emily Reynolds, a florist in Newington, is a very sensory gardener, touching, stroking her plants who has turned her passion into her vocation.
