Support Somerset Libraries to produce short films
Somerset Libraries are commissioning a series of short films that captures the benefits of the services they provide. They’re open to live-action, animation, or a creative mix of both, however it is likely that the primary focus for all films will be an animation format.
They’re inviting proposals that:
- Reflect the benefits of the library services to key audience groups (see below for further info)
- Are visually striking
- Follow a consistent creative format
- Are suitable for sharing online and via social media channels
Budget & Deliverables
The total commission budget is £10,000. This should cover all creative fees, production, editing, post-production & VAT, and the following deliverables:
- Four short films (approx. 90 seconds each)
- 16 short cut-downs for social media use (15 second cut-downs or carousels)
- 10 high-resolution stills for marketing
Somerset Libraries will support access to library spaces, staff, interviewees, or archive material where appropriate.
Applications
To apply, please send a short proposal (maximum 2 pages or equivalent) including:
- A summary of your idea
- Intended tone, style, or visual approach
- A ballpark budget and brief breakdown of how it would be spent
- Links to previous work (short films, showreels, animations, etc.)
- A brief bio or background on you/your team, including where you are based
Timeline
- Deadline for EOI: 1st June 2025 (Informal chats scheduled between 19-30 May 2025)
- Confirmation of supplier(s) – 10 June 2025
- Deadline for delivery of films: 1st October 2025
