The Space and BBC Academy Day, Edinburgh

August 23, 2016 @ 10:15 am

Supported by Creative Scotland and, hosted as part of the Edinburgh Digital Entertainment Festival, we heard from prominent speakers and thinkers who shared their insights and tips.

Peter Bazalgette, Chair of Arts Council England, Fiona Morris, Chief Executive of The Space and William Burdett-Coutts, Festival Director of Edinburgh Digital Entertainment Festival discussed how digital technologies and platforms can complement the work of arts organisations. We also gained insights from commissioners around obtaining funding and support for projects, as well as a rare glimpse into Scotland’s games sector, to see what learning can be gained from this successful industry.

 Sessions explored:

  • Distribution in a multi-platform world – There are many more opportunities to share your work and build relationships with audiences when becoming multi-platform, but which platform best suits you?
  • Capture for the Screen (AM and PM)– From cinema screens to mobile screens, what are the considerations and tips to capturing your work for the screen?
  • Where creativity meets technology (AM and PM) – VR, AR, AI, 360… the list of innovations in creative technology is growing at a pace.  What technology would be best to suit your project?  How do you build compelling artistic experiences and ensure the technology doesn’t become the sole focus?
  • Connecting with Audiences – From understanding simple easily accessible data, to quick wins on social media, these tips will help grow and build relationships with your audience.
