Growing online audiences

In association with Arts Council England, we presented a free workshop exploring ways in which arts organisations can strengthen existing relationships with audiences, and extend the reach and impact of work.

The Space's Head of Audiences Joe Bell and Sarah Fortescue Head of Distribution, were joined by practitioners who’ve connected with diverse audiences in imaginitive ways. Presentations and case studies were mixed with practical exercises and small group discussions, so delegates had time to talk through their own work and ideas.

Sessions included:

Sustainable, strategic ways of developing an online following

Joe Bell, Head of Audience Development at The Space, shared practical advice on ways to identify existing and potential audiences, and how to maximise opportunities for them to experience and enjoy your work.

Finding the best distribution channels for your work

Head of Distribution for The Space Sarah Fortescue discussed the steps you can take to develop an effective digital distribution plan. With so many platforms to choose from, how do you make the decisions on where to focus your efforts?

A number of case studies were used in order to help participants reflect and identify new and potential audiences online. We also outlined the opportunities afforded by the increasing number of digital platforms.
