Black Country Secrets

The Black Country powered the beginnings of the industrial revolution. In this series of podcasts, five writers and spoken word artists from across the Black Country choose a Black Country scene to reveal something about this hidden region.

 

Essayists Liz Berry, Emma Pursehouse, Brendan Hawthorne, RM Francis, and Roy McFarlane paint evocative pictures of various landmarks, including an enormous blast furnace called ‘Big Lizzy,’ St Barts Church, and the secret world of the ‘Wren’s Nest,’ once a site of intense mining.
