Fly The Flag by Fuel Produtions is a collaboration between arts organisations and human rights charities that celebrates and reminds us of the human rights we all share. The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 restricted the right to protest in the UK. The Public Order Act 2023 imposed further restrictions on the right to peaceful protest.
In 2022, Fly The Flag focused on Article 20 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the right to protest.
Article 20: Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association.
They invited young people across the four nations of the UK to respond to Article 20 working with leading theatre artist and Fuel board member, director Jenny Sealey OBE, and artistic associates in each nation. A film has been created that documents the engagement process and the reactions of young people to the right to protest.
