Smile

Smile, charts the story of Dundee United manager Jim McLean. He might never be called one of Scottish football’s best loved characters, but he will always be described as one of the most respected. While boss of Dundee United, McLean did something that no-one thought possible, and turned a provincial football club into a genuine, European force, though not without cost.

This project is a capture of Dundee Rep’s full production of Smile in VR180. The production has been made available on new, experimental VR theatre platform Box Office VR. Box Office VR, a unique VR player and no-subscription based platform, has been developed by production company Neon8 and partners, specifically for the arts industry to experiment with, as well as a place where audiences who may not otherwise get to see certain shows, can experience a unique, immersive, 3D version of a production without leaving their house.
